North Star uses Companion Laser Therapy as another means of non-invasive treatment. Laser therapy is a drug free, surgery free, non-invasive, pain free treatment in which low-intensity laser light is applied to the body to treat painful and debilitating conditions for pets. An infrared light penetrates deep into tissue to create a photo-chemical reaction that increases production of ATP, a building block substance that cells use to repair themselves. Water, oxygen, and nutrients are brought to the damaged area to promote healing. This happens through a process called photobiomodulation.
A specific dose of light energy tailored to each individual patient will help in decreasing inflammation, decreasing pain, and accelerate healing. Laser therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of medical conditions such as:
