New Clients

Preparing for Your First Visit

We understand that your first visit can feel a bit overwhelming for both you and your pet. To help make the process as smooth as possible, we’ve put together a checklist of helpful tips:

  1. Complete and Submit Our New Client Form
Ensure your form is completed and submitted before your visit to save time during check-in.
  2. Gather Your Pet’s Medical Records
    • Physical Copies: Bring them with you on the day of your appointment.
    • Electronic Copies: Email records and relevant information to northstarveterinaryhospital@gmail.com.
    • Need Assistance? If you’d prefer us to contact your previous clinic to obtain your pet’s history, let our front staff know when scheduling your appointment.
  3. Prepare Your Questions
Make a list of any questions you’d like to discuss with your veterinarian during your visit.
  4. Pet Safety Requirements
    • Dogs: Must be on a short leash for everyone’s safety. Retractable or flexi-leads are not recommended.
    • Cats: Must be in a secure carrier or on a leash. Cats are especially prone to becoming flight risks in unfamiliar spaces due to the abundance of new and potentially scary smells. A carrier helps ensure their safety and prevents them from escaping and finding level 10 hiding spots or leaving the premises.
  5. Special Accommodations
Your comfort and your pet’s well-being are our top priorities. If you or your pet require any special accommodations, please let our front staff know ahead of your appointment. This allows us to prepare and make arrangements to the best of our ability. Examples of accommodations include:
    • Using a side door entrance to avoid a busy lobby.
    • Special handling techniques tailored to your pet’s needs.
    • Slow introductions to help reduce stress or anxiety.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call at 910-858-2525.

We look forward to meeting you and your pets!
